4k monitor, yay or nay?

Saw a pretty nice 4K monitor at a reasonable price. I'm tempted.

But I've never seen games on 4K displays before, so I don't know if the tradeoff is worth it. Right now I game in 1080p with a 980Ti, and for many games I can't even get a stable 60FPS at max settings (GTA 5, Ark survival, Rise of the Tomb Raider).

But since I never play competitive online shooters, I'm not crazy about FPS either. And I'm also the kind of guy who takes a crap-load of screenshots, and I have to say I don't like the quality of 1080p screenshots.

So for those of you who have 4K monitors, what are your opinions?

1440 p or 2 k is plenty in my oppinion, have gamed on a 4k monitor with friends but i like 1440p 120 fps more than 4k 60 fps

well for none of the games I play I would need 120FPS.

That means games will run on 4k, but maybe not at high or max, so to be honest I'd get a 1440p screen and max out everything, unless you plan on getting a second card and SLI it...which would be outrageously expensive, imo.

The jump from 1080p to 1440p is really noticeable, but from 1440 to 4k not so much. With a single GTX 980 TI you are much better off with a 1440p display.
