Display PS3 on laptop with thunderbolt?

If I were to want to use my laptop as a display for my PS3 (it's an Asus ROG G750JM) would i be able to simply purchase an HDMI/Thunderbolt cable and connect the PS3 directly to the laptop? The laptop also claims to have DisplayPort with the thunderbolt port, I'm not exactly sure what that's for but maybe it matters.

I cant find that laptop with google... At any rate, that's likely video out, not in. Check the manual.
