In a nutshell:

New SSD bought. Installed Windows 10 perfectly.

I have a second HDD which I then installed Ubuntu 15.10. During installation of Ubuntu, I erroneously installed the GRUB onto the new SSD Windows 10 boot sector -big problems.

Windows 10 wouldn't load. And I couldn't find a definitive answer on how to fix the issue.
Except I went into repair options, and got to the command line where I then utilised the bootrec options as detailed in a help article.
This then created another issue - GRUB wouldn't even show from there on and the computer just hung.

Now I decided to just reformat the SSD and re-install Windows 10 again. Unfortunately, I'm getting told that "Windows cannot complete the procedure" whenever I try and delete, reformat, or install a new copy of Windows 10.

Has anyone got any ideas to help me get out of this mess I've created?

Is the installation of Windows 10 based off the free upgrade path or a licence key? If the culprit system is a desktop, remove the CMOS battery for 15 mins before replacing it all the while making sure the main power connector is disconnected. If the issue is on a laptop, disconnect from the mains(adapters and wall plug), remove laptop battery and if possible the motherboard battery then replace after 15 minutes and then see if you can reinstall your OS.
