Activate Windows 10 that was freshly installed on a machine/laptop which originally came with Windows 8.

My laptop has Windows 8 when I bought it.
I want to install windows 10 from an USB (not upgrading)
Will Windows 10 be activated automatically or I have to do something?

Do you have a legit Windows 10 key?

If not you need to use upgrade path.
