I had the problem where my Packard Bell TE11BZ had a corrupt HDD. The only way to solve it was to get another one. Just got one, installed it perfectly. Now, when trying to install Windows 10 using a DVD, 1st it said "We couldn’t create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files." Then it said "Windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT style." Supposedly the trick was to change the boot from UEFI to Legacy. I did that but now the laptop won't start from the DVD-ROM. I've tried multiple times to boot from it but nothing happens!

Hi

Was this a new hard disk or second hand?
If new there would be no existing partition on drive

To erase all partitions on a second hand hard disk boot from Hirens boot cd
There are several tools to wipe the begining of hard drive so windows thinks it is new drive (mbr wizard or wd datalifeguard 4 windows )

I would select uefi in bios and gpt partitioning if windows is x64 64 bit
But legacy and mbr partitions if x32 windows
( providing hdd no bigger than 2 TB and max 4GB of RAM then 32 bit windows is ok )

It was a new hard disk. Also, I can only choose UEFI in Bios, I don't see anything about GPT. System is 64bits.
