Does it matter what kind of computer you have when it comes to buying monitors?

I have a custom built PC with an amd fx 6300 processor, 8gb of ram, and a Nvidia GeForce 8400gs graphics card. I have enough money to buy a 27 inch quad hd monitor. Does it matter what kind of specifications my PC has? I'm not trying to game, and if I do I just lower the resolution.

Qhd is 1440p although no one really calls it qhd. 4k is uhd and no one uses that term either. The 8400gs can do qhd with dual link dvi. As long as the gpu can do the res and this isn't a 10bit monitor you should be fine. It's a very low end gpu and igpu on the mobo is probably better if you have one.
