We don't even know if your board is AM2+ or AM3 with what information you gave us, and depending which manufacturer it's from will determine how well they've kept the BIOS up to date to support new processors.
If you don't know how to find out which specific motherboard you have, google cpuz and install it. It'll give you a bunch of information on your system including the motherboard.
