Hey everyone, I'm getting a new build with a intel i5 6600k and a msg gtx 970 (definitely plan on overclocking to full potential).

The question i am asking is, which is better a 144hz monitor or a 1440p monitor? I will be gaming a lot but also watch a lot of youtube videos and movies. I have a 1440p retina display macbook and its awesome!! i can imagine how it looks like at 25".

If i was to get a 144z monitor, it would be the asus VG248.

If I'm leaning towards 1440p......

Which is the best 1440p monitor out of these 2?

If i choose a 1440p, which one is better? I want to overclock the monitors so I can play at higher hz. I heard the qnix is awesome for overclocking and get guaranteed 96hz, but I don't know if i can trust the product(if you have it, how is it?). I would love to get the asus because I trust the brand and quality but i hear u can only OC it to about 75z? Is there really a big difference or should i just get the qnix? I really want the 25" one but if the hz is better on the 27", ill be fine in getting that. The response time and resolution are the same, but the nix is larger(which i like). If you have info on anything let me know thank you!! or if u have any other 1440p monitors that are trust worthy and better plz let me know swell. THANK YOU

With a 6600k and GTX970, you'd be better off with 1080p 144hz. If you wanted 1440p, you should have planned better for that.

The GTX970 or R9 390 is decent at 1440p, but the GTX980 or R9 390x would be better.

No need to bother with overclocking. Save money by getting the regular i5 6600 instead of the 6600k. You could get a H170 motherboard for even more savings. You could put that extra money into the video card.

I'm getting a 6600k for 225 and a z170 motherboard for $90. i think ill stick with those. Is 340 for a r9 390x good?
