graphics card first or monitor

Hey guys I am able to afford a really nice acer predator (freesync) ultrawide monitor but I was wondering should I upgrade my hardware first then get the monitor? or get it and save for a more powerful system.

CPU: I7 4790K 4.5GHZ
GPU: Sapphire tri x R9 390X
PSU RM850
MOBO: Mpower z97

You can go ahead and get the monitor, the R9 390X won't have too much of a problem with an ultrawide monitor unless it's above 4k.

the 35'' ultrawide predator is an 2560x1080 @ 144Hz panel. than not even 2k.! your gpu is plenty for such res.

Exactly correct, I just didn't get to looking it up because he didn't list a model number, that and I didn't want to assume because I know there is more than predator monitor.

i think im wrong here, thats the gsync monitor reviewed here in tom's. the freesync predator is actually a 3440x1440 that not 4k , but pretty close.

Oh, well then it'll be load for it, but the 390X should be able to handle it as long as you're not at maximum settings when gaming.

such res is a challenge for 290x with AAA tittles however in time you can ugrade to the upcoming amd and nvidia gpu.(the so called polaris and pascal) there isnt a need to change the whole system. devils canyon will stand its ground for the years to come.
