Running 2400Mhz RAM on a '2133 Max' system?

I have an opportunity of a bargain RAM upgrade to HyperX Beast 2400Mhz, but my understanding is that my system (MoBo) only handles up to 2133Mhz. (currently running 1600 equiv).

Does this mean it will still be compatible, but only run @ 2133, or will it not work at all?

And if it does work at the reduced rate, will I be able to overclock?

Board: MSI A78M-E45 Micro ATX FM2+
CPU: AMD A10-7700K 3.4GHz

Might well run 2400, would have to try and see, at worse could set up for a lower (2133, 1866) data rate depending on your MC (memory controller)

Yeah the MC is rated at 2133, is that likely to be negotiable? Even if that is an absolute limit I'll be happy enough.

Most of the time the MC can handle higher data rates with the CPU at stock
