if i upgrade from windows 8.1 to windows 10 does it get rid of windows 8 because i dont want windows 8 files to stay there.

Solution
No, it doesn't automatically do that, in case you want to roll back. However, once 10 is installed, run the disk cleanup utility to delete old Windows 8 files (the Windows.old folder). Clear system restore points if you are satisfied with 10 as well.

one upgrade option is to completely delete everything (basically a format of the hdd). this will totally remove win 8 from the system with nothing left over. the windows.old folder will still be there more than likely but it can be deleted once win 10 is up and running.
