Creating bootable USB for a Windows 7 install on a Windows 10 machine?

Hi Hi,

I was recently asked by a friend to help install a HDD and load Windows 7 on a new laptop of his without any optical drive. My question is this: Can I move the Win7 install from his DVD onto a bootable flash drive that was formatted on my machine which runs Win10? Both are x64 versions, but his is an OEM System Builder edition, if that may make a difference.

If this is a problem, do you know any other way of getting Win7 on his machine (excluding finding another Win7 computer to do it on). I thought of maybe getting an external optical drive and using that, but my assumption, and I may be wrong, is that it won't show in the BIOS boot order without having drivers for it installed.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you, that's a helpful link to have. The flash drive was formatted via CMD and the OS was installed w/o any issues. The whole process took maybe 45 minutes, top.
