Hello, I just finished having my PC built and I found a 24" monitor that I found in my sister's closet. When I connected the monitor, which is VGA, to my graphics card, which has 2 DVI-D ports and an HDMI the monitor never came on even though I had a VGA to DVI adapter. I kept being met by the message on my monitor "No VGA cable." Will my monitor and video card work together or will I need to buy a new monitor?

Solution
For converting DVI-D signal to D-SUB you need active adapter.
If it looks like this, it will not work:

You need this type of adapter:

I have a VGA to DVI-D adapter but even when I plugged it into the VGA cable and then connected it to the DVI-D port on the video card it didn't work.
