Just built my first computer but when I plug it into my monitor nothing shows.

Hi, I just built my very first pc. I was quite exited to start building, encountered some problems along the way but now it's done and it's powered up. Only problem is that it won't communicate with my monitor. The fan is running, the led lights are working and it's making noise, yet the monitor shows nothing when I plug the HDMI cable in. Make sure it's plugged into the graphics card not the motherboard, and if you have a dvi or display port cable somewhere try seeing they work.
Just wondering about your build, why did you pick that motherboard? You do realize you can't overclock your CPU right?

Make sure all power connectors are plugged in (to GPU, to CPU, to MOBO), make sure whatever video cable your using is connected to the GPU not the motherboard.
