Why Can't a 4k 60hz Monitor Run 120hz 1080P?

I've heard others ask if a 4k 60hz panel can run 120hz 1080P, similar to how you can run a 1080P 60hz monitor at 75hz at 720P, but from what I heard you cannot do that. Why is that so?

You can if you manage too overclock it, but 1080 on 4k isn't as sharp as 1080 on 1080.

Refresh rate and resolution aren't interchangeable, does your monitor support 120Hz ???

I'm not talking about monitors I own, I was just asking about this since I've heard others ask if they can run 1080P at 120hz on a 4k screen.

You can run 1080p on a 4k screen but it wont look as great as 1080 on a 1080 (native res), you can run it at 120 hz if the monitor supports it!
