My computer keeps going to system recovery after resetting and could not even enter desktop at all.

I've done every option in the system recovery and it still goes back to it. I've tried 'chkdsk' and it said there is 0 operating systems detected but also said there are no errors?. What the hell? Could it be the hard drive causing this? It is pre owned along with the psu and ram but those two seem to work alright.

If it is the hard drive, can I buy an ssd, install the os there and still use the 'damaged' hdd as file storage only?

It's most likely the hdd crashed. You can try:

-Run startup repair using recovery disk
-Try to install new os on the hdd

If you can't either then the hdd is bad and needs to be replaced, good luck
