generic non-pnp monitor

so about a week ago turned on my pc and my resolution had changed from 1920x1080 to 1024x768 and it won't go any higher, no recent hardware/software changes however i can get 1920x1080 fine if i use a vga cable, bt not with dvi-d

tried that mate, also reformatted and when i boot with ubuntu i dont even get a picture, screen stays black and says no signal detected

uninstall then re-install the video driver.
