Upgrade CPU, MB and Ram Or New Monitor

Let me list my specs first

CPU 2500K
PSU Corsair TX 750
MB Asus Z68
Cooler Hyper 212 Evo
GPU MSI 970
Ram 8Gb DDR3 1600
Samsung 21.5 1080 Monitor

My Question is this. I have a Birthday coming up and wife has offered to upgrade a component on my PC. Since my GPU and PSU is fine I was thinking of Either upgrading the CPU MB and Ram to a Skylake i5 or i7
OR
Upgrading the monitor to maybe a 24 or 27 inch monitor 1080p

PC mainly used for gaming and considering all games I play run fine with my current setup, for example Witcher 3 with hair works Averaging 45 FPS and 70FPS with hairworks off.

What would you recommend??

If you don't currently have an SSD, do that first.

I second the SSD advice. It's amazing. If you were going for a monitor, I would try and aim for a 1440p monitor. The gtx 970 can handle 1440p on most games with things turned down a bit. Or upscale 1080p

I do have a 240 gig ssd so that not an option currently

I've been leaning towards maybe a wide screen monitor for more vision on fps games
