My monitor's hdmi works as I boot the computer, but there's a black screen

My monitor works with vga. The hdmi port works too but then it works only while booting. While booting the computer (while using the hdmi port) it loads the windows boot thing, but then in the middle of the booting it's suddenly a black screen. As soon as I unplug the hdmi and connect the vga, it instantly shows the desktop. I really need this monitor to connect to the hdmi port so that I can set up a dual monitor

Please help.

What card? What operating system? What revision drivers? Are you using your IGP?

Sounds like a driver issue.
