Hey guys i really really need help 4k and gxt 980 8gb

On 17.3 laptop

Sager one

Now i can upgrade to 4k i really want to but i have 1080 p on it and fps are good

Will 8gb gtx 980 give good results on 4k?

Realistically 4k gamming won't be practical for at least 2 years. Otherwise you need two desktop 980ti to play at 4k with high settings

Wont 4k on medium be better than 1080 p on ultra?

I'd go with 1080p ultra.

I'd go with 1440 with that video card.. I think it'll run 4k but you'll have to turn game settings down and you'll still see lower fps, or you could run it in a scaled down resolution.

I still think a 2560x1440 monitor would be right up your alley, it would be an upgrade and still run good with your gpu.

In terms of performance I don't have any figures for shadow of mordor but here are a few other examples:

Rainbow 6 Siege - 39fps
Star Wars Battlefront - 42fps
The Witcher 3 - 31fps
BF4 - 53fps
Crysis 3 - 62fps

All of those fps are with 16x AF. If you took the AF level down to 4x or 8x (which you can do because you're running at 4k) you'll see numbers more in the 40's and 50's on the first 3 games and 60's - 70's in the last two.

2x GTX 980M would add 5-15fps (depending on the game) at 4k.
