What do I do about a spot on my monitor?

My Asus LED monitor all of a sudden has a streak across it. I've never abused the screen. Heck, I never even touch it unless I'm gently cleaning it. This spot appeared out of nowhere, a grey streak. Although it's hard to see in the picture, there are also some strange rectangles running up the edge of the screen nearest to the streak. Any ideas?

if have or can borrow a monitor for testing purposes to see if that problem shows up or not. try that monitor on another computer to see if still there or not but think it will.

I tried plugging a different monitor in to my computer and the mark was gone. It only shows when using the monitor in question.

how old is that monitor?

2 1/2 years? It's been heavily used, on probably 15 hours every day.

it might be fixable but depends on how much you are willing to spend compared to buying a new monitor.
