I recently moved my TV and PC together, and would like to turn my monitors display off from afar when im in bed about to use the TV only.

I would like to know if using remote control sockets on my monitors would harm anything with them if switching them off from afar since it will suddenly cut the electric current into them, as opposed to putting a TV into standby mode!

Will remote control socketing the PowerSupply on my pc also work/harm it ? I usually hear sudden electric cuts harm it. Looking forward for your help ! :)

agreed, bad idea. had to replace a customer's psu in his tower caused by a sudden lose of power due to an ice storm we suffered a few weeks back. another customer had to get a new monitor after a sudden power lose did in his old monitor.

So also suddenly cutting power to monitors can them.. bit of an obvious answer i know but worth asking.

Is there any way i could make my monitors switch off from a distance as if im pressing the standyby/off button on them ?
