Recently I installed an update for win10 over night. When i woke up the next morning and tried to use my headphones i found that they no longer work. I have had this problem before when installing updates but usually a rollback/reinstall of the realtek drivers will fix it. However anything i try this time refuses to work. I am on a laptop with only 4 ports for audio. My headphones use the split mic/audio ports and are working just fine with other devices. The mic seems to be picking up sound and the sound will play through the laptop speakers so the headphones are the only part not working. I would appreciate any help i can get.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to uninstall/reinstall the Sound card driver.
- Open Device Manager and uninstall the Sound driver.
- Reboot the laptop, and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
- After the reboot do set the Headphone as the default Playback Device.
- Right click on the speaker icon and select Playback Devices.
- If you see the headphone listed, right click on it and select Set Default then click Apply and OK.
- If it will still not work, do run System Restore and bring it back to an earlier date when it was working properly.
- Here's how to run System Restore: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/windows-10/windows-10-recovery-options

Hopefully this will help. :)
