Hey guys, title says it all,

What would it be like if i wanted to play a game in 16:9 on a widescreen monitor just because of performance. Is it that bad? Currently i'm using a 23.6 inch screen 1080p ips and looking at a 29 inch widescreen.

If anyone had any experience with this help would be greatly apperciated

It can look perfect if you make the resolution scale down on the screen (black bars either side of the image). That way you can play games how they are meant to look but still have the ultrawide screen for other titles.

You can have the app force the screensize from the nvidia menu, check it out. (Not sure on AMD)

Some games don't support that aspect ratio even though many GPUs do. So you're gonna have to "widescreen fix patch" the ones you wanna play. Yes, you'll see more horizontal details because 16 scale vs 21 duh. The 3D application can also be patched to show the same aspect ratio in a 16:9 monitor as well. But, the viewing area would be smaller considering the top and bottom will be black bars like in cinemascope.
