generic pnp monitor

I have installed nvidia drivers and video drivers should be up to date. I'm using a hdmi cable and my max res at the moment is 1280 x 1024 but my monitors native default is 1920 x 1080

hwat card are you on and what version fo windows?
also, are you coming from an amd setup or integrated graphics by intel/amd?

I have a nvidia's gt730 and windows 7, and no i have only had nvidia setup noting else.

Install the driver for you monitor would be my first suggestion.

Have you gone to advanced settings and selected List All Modes? Windows can be stupid sometimes.

this is assuming you are on x64 win 7

Thank you for your help, but a simple windows update failed and i installed it manually.
