Computer Starts But Monitor Goes Into Power Save Mode

First off I know it's my computer and not my monitor as I have checked with other devices and monitor works fine. My computer is an HP Pavilion P7 1240 with a 7770 graphics card. I have been using this monitor and computer for 9 months. My monitor is a Dell S2009W. So the problem is that when I turn on my computer and monitor, my monitor says Power Save Mode, but it does detect that it's plugged in. When I turn my computer on, everything lights up and starts spinning so I'm not sure what's faulty. This is has happened before but generally was just fixed with just a simple replug or something. If you need more information I can give some more.
