BenQ xl2411z issue, i can't set Hz higher than 60.

I just bought this monitor and an adapter for DisplayPort to DVI-D. I plugged this into my Gtx 960, and everything worked fine. However, when I tried to change my Hz from 60 to 144, it was capped at 60. I don't know why this is happening because I am using a adapter for the DVI-D cable to be put into the DisplayPort port. I am also using the DVI-D cable that the monitor came with.

I suspect you bought a DP to single link dvi adapter and you need dual link dvi. What happens if you just try using the dvi port on the card? It should be a dual link dvi port.
