Octigen M170E5 Monitor picture blinks, LED ON, hissing sound - HELP!

Hello to All,

Its about monitor Octigen M170E5 failling to display picture repeatedly.

Very loud hissing sound heard from the back, continuous.

Took it apart and make some inside photos.

On the back of the Mboard that provides power is extra element, solderd by hands as seen on photos. Residues of solder also very near to this element.

So just to make sure.

Is it wise to replace all 4 capacitors, and which brand to use?

Greetings

clip the leads trim to the solder side of the board, can use wire cutters or nail clippers. the way you had that cap standing on the board meant that the cap could come off by itself or prevent metal shield that covers the boards when mounted to back of screen from sitting properly.

Its now as the others, well as cloes as, considering soldering.

This display is already in use from promotion on my front company's entrance, and the back of the panel is exposed right now for reason of explaining these kind of issues with my collegues.

Once again, thank for the lost time and effort.

:)

Good, very good. Why is it Frankenstein? Coupled of something that is electricly dead, not supposed to be or...;)

it is using parts from 2 different models of Samsung 19" monitors. original 19" was vga only with a bad video controller, the 2nd had a bad cap in the power board plus a bad scratch in the screen. used original 19" screen & power board connected to the 2nd 19" monitor's video controller that had dvi plus vga & the menu buttons board to make certain it all worked which it did. had to modify both the bezel & back cover of the original 19" monitor to accept the menu buttons board & video controller as the 2nd monitor casing would not take the original screen because of dimension problems. used that Frankenstein in dvi mode for about 5yrs til i fixed this 24" samsung that also has hdmi that is being used now.

Well that is Frankenstein to a word. Great endeavour, creating ONE out of two partially damadeg monitors. Most of the ppl would have it trown away.

However, no resolution difference, now when the original display 1st one had to be connected to DVI/VGA ready video card??? (Samsung on Samsung)

Hello ffg7

Once more about my Octigen monitor. It's working ok, but until now didn't noticed that after VGA cable is removed or PC goes to shut down, LED starts flashing as supposed, but monitor is not OFF, exacly lamps. It's like in this pic below.
Hiting Power button shuts down flashing LED but monitor still looks like that one in poc below. Have to remove power physicaly.

Any thoughts?

Thnx

Monitor power and other buttons board connects directly to video board trough that wider set of wires like in the pic bellow.
