I was playing a game on my computer when suddenly the power flicked on and off a few times. Once it was steady again the pc tried to boot but it went into auto repair mode. I can't find anything that lets me get back to my pc the way it was. I am running Windows 10. I have an external hard drive so if there is no way to restore my computer to the way it was can I back up the files on my external hard drive? Any help is MUCH appreciated.

If the hard drive is still readable, you could boot from a Linux disc and get the data from it. I like Linux Mint best for this purpose. You can download it from here: https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php . You can burn the downloaded .ISO file to a DVD, boot from it and be up and running in under 4 minutes. You don't have to install anything on your computer, and you don't have to know anything about Linux because it has a user interface similar to the one in Windows.
Another alternative would be to remove the hard disk, put it in an enclosure, and plug it into a USB port on another PC. The enclosures cost about $20.

Good luck.
