Hi all,
I have a new laptop (metabox p650RE) with 970m, 15.7 inch screen, i7 6700 skylake, 8gb ram. So it's no slouch.
I have been running it off an external monitor (23 inch, 1920X1080). Same resolution as my laptop. I have it set so it only displays on the external.
What I noticed is when I play elder scrolls online (medium graphics), with external monitor plugged in, the laptop is way louder and hotter. When it's not plugged in and I use laptop monitor, it's whisper quiet. The difference is huge.
What's the deal here? Surely the 23 inch display being larger isn't causing that much more work for the laptop? Could it be possible that the laptop is rendering on both screens or something? Any suggestions here for what is causing this?
