How is faster response time (ms) monitor cheaper??

So I've come to terms with the fact that a 144hz monitor is a waste on my rig with a GTX 760 (cry). I'm trying to buy a nice 1080p 60hz monitor for gaming and narrowed it to two ASUS Monitors. For some reason, the one with seemingly better specs (like 1ms vs 5ms response time) is $50 dollars cheaper. What am I missing? Is it just cause its a 1 year older model or is there another spec i'm overlooking?

1. More Expensive

2. Less Expensive, but better?

Thanks for any clarity provided!

My Specs:
CPU - Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.8GHz
Mobo - ASUS P6T SE (Second Edition, not the P6T, so a little worse, not to mention old)
RAM - 2x4gb DD3 Corsair RAM in dual channel (Unlocked XMP setting in BIOS to run at 1600Mhx)
PSU - Corsair HX750 (750 watt)
GPU - GTX 760

I have two polar extreme options.
1. The QNIX 27" units come directly form Korea. They are inexpensive but have a very good following.
Here is a listing from newegg for $244

2. Nixeus vue 27. This is a US based company. I have used their 30" 1600P monitor for a long time and it is excellent.
$400

A 1440P monitor will need a dual link dvi cable that comes with the monitor and a dvi port on your graphics card.
That will be on every GTX760 card.

I doubt that you will have any...

Hmmm yea I noticed that, what could it be then? I figured it had to be either IPS or TN - Is there another possibility? Which of the two would you recommend? Worth the extra $50? Or do you recommend continuing my search for a different monitor? Thanks again for taking the time.

The cheaper unit has a tn panel which is cheaper but quicker.
If your games are fast action shooters, that is probably better.
The more expensive unit has a IPS panel which gives a better image and a wider 178 viewing angle.
That type will be more satisfying for games like sims strategy and mmo.

At 27" why not look at a 1440P resolution?
A good monitor will last a very long time.
Bust your budget to get a good one.

Thanks for breaking it down for me in such simple terms! That's a big reason for why I'm so torn, I know monitors last. My old one lasted 7 years. My rig is old and I'll probably be looking into building a new down the line, just don't know when so I decided against 144hz and the high-end tech...

More to the point though, is 1440p an option for me? My GTX 760 will handle it? Can you recommend one for me? My friend recommended this, but it looks like another TN VX278N

That IS a nice piece of hardware, thanks for the recommendation. I'm already leaning towards breaking my original 200-300$ budget, but I can't justify spending $600. You're time and advice is appreciated all the same!

I doubt that you will have any performance issue with your type of games.
If you do, you have options such as reducing the resolution.
A higher density monitor requires less aa which is a big load on a graphics card.

Shop around... I don't know where that $600 price tag came from. They should be about $350. (About tree fiddy)
