I am about to add a new HDD to my system but I can't decide which one... I checked out a few reviews here and there but there is not much data on 1TB drives, only bigger.. I heard once that WD drives were the best but when I looked at some recent reviews, I quickly realized that that isn't the case anymore, they have an alarmingly high failure rate together with Seagate and Toshiba... So the only option would be a HGST drive, the C7K1000 looks very promising to me but I would love some opinions and experiences from you lovely people! :)

I've read the WD GREEN hard drives aren't the most reliable, but the blue and black ones are fine. I haven't read anything good about Seagate in a couple of years now. HGST is now owned by WD, but still have the best reliability ratings.

Good luck.

the wd black line is fastest and comes with 5yr warranty...
the wd blue line is next and comes with 2yr warranty...

u shd also consider sshd(solid state hybrid drives)...they are not as expensive as ssd, but has some of its technologies embeded...
Uses SSD for lightning speed
Integrates HDD high capacity and reliability
Introduces Adaptive Memory™ technology, the secret sauce...
