My computer says windows 10 has an update. When it updates and restarts it always says "we couldnt complet updates. undoing changes" this has been going on for a week and I'm tired of it. I've tried many things to fix this but nothing's working.

You can go to Control Panel then look at installed programs. On the left you can see all your installed updates. Simply point to the one that is causing trouble and uninstall it manually. Once you have done that you have two options, either delay or disable the automatic updates for now, and simply go to microsoft's website to download the particular update that was causing you trouble. Good luck!

does anything show as failed if you look here:
Settings/updates & security/Windows Update
Click on Advanced options
Click on View your update history

The failed update should show as failed in this list. It should have a KB number, can you share it or just look it up on Google.

sorry for the late response. A lot of stuff has failed on the list. the main windows updated that failed is called "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3156421)" i cant seem to find it in the installed updates section so I can't even uninstall it

well, that is this months update file.. it only happened this week, you not missing that much.

Have you tried the windows update troubleshooter?
search cortana for troubleshoot
select the control panel choice
on next window select view all from list on left
Run Windows update troubleshooter

its worth a try.

i ran the troubleshooter and it said that windows update components must be repaired and it says it has fixed them. I tried to update after that and the update has still failed. I may just wait for next months update

I followed all the steps and my os had corrupt files and bugs. I continued following the steps but windows could not fix the files for some reason. I ended up re installing window abnd its fixed. To anyone having the same problems follow these steps http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki/windows_10-update/system-file-check-sfc-scan-and-repair-system-files/bc609315-da1f-4775-812c-695b60477a93 and if it doesnt work re install your os using and iso file from here https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10
