I have a 4k TV 49in as my monitor, and a pair of 980tis w/ a 4790k, all three on a custom loop, more cause I like to tinker than I need the horsepower or anything like that and I have to say, it's pretty sweet the 4k compared to 1080p, however, if you're gaming competitively, I'd have to tell you to go with the 1440p @ 144hz. Also, get a monitor instead of a TV. The 4k TVs look great, and if you're playing warcraft or something like that, they're awesome, but if you do *any* twitch gaming, you'll be better served by a true monitor that's truly fast. Right now, the only decent 4k media is gaming, Netflix 4k is a joke and there hasn't been much in the way of movies and such, there's a lot of upscaled, but it just looks like a good picture of a bad picture. It's like on Futurama, where Zapp tells Kif to "enlarge" and he asks why the resolution didn't get any better, Kif tells him that it's bigger, but that doesn't make the picture better, and Zapp says it works on CSI Miami. To that end, even games that aren't made with 4k in mind look clearer, but with low res textures, there's still work to be done to make it actually better than say 1440.
