Hi,
I'm having some trouble getting games to work that are on my SSD. I have Hearthstone and csgo on my ssd and they were working fine yesterday but overnight windows 10 updated and now when I launch the games it gets stuck at the the first frame it sees when it launches. I can press buttons and move around but I can't see what i'm doing.

- I'm pretty sure it's a windows problem and not an error with the game files as I have 2 separate games on different launchers (battle.net and steam)who both have identical problems. (Unless its a graphic driver issue?)

- Sometimes restarting the pc can fix it but its quite unreliable.

- I've tried disabling all firewall protections to see if it was something up with that and it doesn't affect anything.

-Games on my storage HDD work fine with no problems only games on the SSD with the OS.

- I've tried reinstalling both games and I run into the same problem.

SSD - Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
GPU - GTX 980Ti (latest drivers installed)

Solution
Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that I suggested to others who had the same problem that may help.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Next is to open Programs and Features then uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once completely uninstalled, download and install the latest driver.
- Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot the PC once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot do set Nvidia as the default GPU.
- Here's how:nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2615/~/how-do-i-customize-optimus-profiles-and-settings%3F
- If it will still not work, do run System Restore and restore it back to yesterdays date.
- Here's how...

I reinstalled windows 2 days ago and haven't put anything on my SSD apart from the games and a few programs.

The problem seems to be to do with the game being in a window which makes me think its a driver issue. Like I said before I can click around the screen but it only displays the first frame it sees, if i resize the window it updates but then sticks to that frame.

Here's an example: https://gfycat.com/TartAngryFox

yeah I completely removed all nvidia programs and drivers then reinstalled and it still didn't work. I ended up doing a system restore but the only point it had was when I re-installed windows with nothing installed. It seems to work fine now, I think it was the windows update that messed it up.
