joluk44 :
Hey guys, wondering if the windows 10 upgrade is really worth it before the cut off date.
I currently have windows 7 and like it (still prefer xp but thats a distant memory...) but loathe windows 8.
Is the upgrade worth it? i have a lot of stuff i dont want going AWOL off my 3 hdds.
Cheers
Greetings, joluk:
If you like Win7 but loathe Win8, then Win10 will probably not do it for you. Win8 introduced the famous/infamous Tiles design and with Win10 it's been expanded quite considerably.
I have XP, Vista, 7, 8.1 and 10 and I fully understand why people like Win7 - it was a remarkable and much appreciated departure from earlier Win OSs in terms of stability and functionality. That said, I must say that Win8.1 made a similarly favourable 'first impression' on me, but I didn't stay on 8.1 long enough to experience the numerous problems lodged by many users. Instead I quickly upgraded to Win10, and joined the Insider Program, and having experienced a year's worth of ups and downs (defective, confusing and catastrophic builds), I will say that Windows 10 has become my all-time favourite Win OS.
If you can get past the radically new design, I think that you'll find Win10 just as useable and no-nonsense as Win7.
But make sure to create a backup, and if you don't like auto-updates, you need a Win10 Pro license.
Cheers,
GreyCatz.
