I need a new router. If I buy an AC1200 router, will I have issues with wireless devices? My iPhone does not have an 802.11ac chip in it and I use it on wifi alot. I'm not sure what else is compatible with AC that we have, if anything. Or how to check even. Does it scale down to N if they don't have AC chips? Am I better off just getting another N router?
We have Charter, we pay for 60mbps and Speedtest shows 66mbps from my computer that is hardwired. And from my iPhone Speedtest app the ping is 509ms, And 0.10mbps. We have:
2 computers are hard-wired.
A laptop that uses wifi a few hours each night.
A Roku that is going most of the day and evening.
1 Tablet and Iphone that is using it on and off.
A Kindle, doesn't use it *that* much but does connect. And I'm sure more will be added with our bunch.
My husband games alot and I stream alot, Netflix Hulu etc type stuff. The problem is that here lately, if I stream, he has over 1000ms in games like WoW or fps games.
I can't afford to throw $200 at a router right now, so keep that in mind lol. I just want something that will stream our stuff since we don't have cable, but won't make my husband lag in games...
