No interest access

I am connected to my wifi but none of the browsers work. The ping gives no response nor do any internet based applications work.
Winsoc reset didn't work either.

If you're in a different room from your router, there's a new so-called "power saving" option in the Power Options applet of the Control Panel that's set for "medium power". You need to change it to "maximum power".
Wasn't that clever of MS to make that change without the slightest notice?
