my monitor is Acer XG270HU 27 and with it came both a display port cable and a dual link DVI-D cable, the display port can reach 120hz and 144hz but the max setting i can get for the DVI-D is 60hz, i am trying to get the 120 on 1920x1080 not anything higher and my graphics card is get 760,
i am trying to use the DVI-D because my display port jack in the card is faulty and sometimes after i log in i get a black screen and i have to remove it and replug it,also when i alt-tab from full screen games i get a long black screen pause before i can get the image(like 2-3 secs of black screen).

i am 100% sure its the dual link,it has the full pins with no gaps in the middle but its DVI-D as the wide metal pin doesnt have the 4 ones surrounding it,should it be DVI-I or DVI-D is fine ?

Go into the Nvidia control panel and select "Change resolution". If your current resolution is under "Ultra HD, HD, SD" then scroll down in the resolution options to "PC" and select your resolution there. Then go to "Refresh rate" and see if you have the option for 120hz (http://imgur.com/a/CQDy9). If you already selected the resolution under PC then I'm not sure what the problem is.
