Monitor turns on for about a second then goes black

Hello, I have a problem with my monitor.
It's currently plugged in as a second screen (extend), but I tried the single screen setup with it, it seems to have a same problem.
Anyway, when I plug it, it shows the screen for about a second then goes black, and it doesn't turn back on at all.. turning it off and on again, does the same thing.. I'd appreaciate if someone could help.. Thansk in advance!

what type of connector is it? Also does it still work with the old monitor?

It's a VGA connector (the only one on this monitor). It's worth to mention that I tried it on 4 configurations, so it must be the problem with the monitor itself.

As in if you connect just the one monitor and boot it are there any problems?

Yes, same thing happens..

It should be the back-light inside the monitor is broken, the off/on is auto-protection.

My could fix it, only if we knew where to look.

It could be fixed, but not easy, you need to take apart an diagnostic yourself, be careful the several kilo-volts of power if it's the CCFL light.
