I have a television with no HDMI port, just DVI and VGA. I purchased a digital-to-analog converter which came with an optical cable.
I'm able to receive audio via my wireless Turtle Beach headset thanks to using the converter + optical cable, but sometimes I don't want to wear my headset and would like the audio to come through my television speakers, which are built in.
I read in a separate guide that there are different DVI's that can transfer sound OR audio, or both.
I don't know which type of DVI my tv has, it doesn't say DVI-I or DVI-D, just "DVI".
I'm also using an HDMI to DVI-D cable, and according to that thread, DVI-D only transfers video.
So If I purchase an HDMI to DVI-I cable, I'll be able to receive audio as well? And would that DVI-I fit into the DVI port on my television?
Unless the DVI port only supports DVI-D. Which is what I'm wondering since it only says DVI. Does that mean ANY DVI cable will fit?
