New TV Smooth Motion not working Properly?

Recently got a new VIZIO 50" M50-C1 120hz 4k UHD smart Tv.. And It's fantastic BUT, it's not true 120hz so it uses smooth motion or a "judder" slider, but even on the lowest or max judder settings, the "sop opera" effect is only visible sometimes, at other times the video will lag behind or stagger.. I'd like to know if theres a solution at all as I enjoy the faster movements of 120hz. I tried MadVR with MPC player and it's okay, but nothing close to as good as smooth motion. any ideas?

I'm aware the 50" doesn't offer true 120hz now, but It'd be nice to get the smooth motion working 100% of the time rather than 60%.

UPDATE: I figured out how to use 120hz in 1080p, but I had to turn off GPU scaling.. which makes the text slightly more blurry. And I see no way around that.
