Should I upgrade my monitor or GPU?

My current setup is this - I have a 970 SC GPU and I'm using a 60hz 1080p Monitor. I've learnt that the GTX 1070 is released in 7 days.. I have around £300 to spend, I'm seriously debating whether or not to upgrade my GPU to a 1070 or my monitor to a 144hz 1080p G-Sync monitor. I'm trapped in a decision loop.

Looking for some feedback on this, all help appreciated

You are in a balance here, a 970 will run at 1080p just fine, but will be slower at 144hz. A 1070 will be faster but keeping the 1080 60hz refresh rate it won't be that much faster than the 970 in that case. Really to get a usable upgrade you'd want to replace both, or none LOL

If you are happy with how your monitor looks, and have a good enough CPU to run a 1070, I'd get that. If you have a lower quality monitor, a good IPS screen will be a good upgrade and the 970 will run it pretty well.
