Hi! I'm in the process of learning how to physically build my own computer. I've ordered all the components and it's ready to go. However, I noticed there is an OEM and retail version of Windows 10. Do I NEED the OEM version so I can put on a fresh drive? Will retail work? What's recommended?

Solution
The main difference is re usability. The OEM copy will be registered to the new motherboard you are making now, the retail copy can be moved to another PC if down the road you decide to upgrade motherboard.

the other difference is cost. Retail costs more but its added insurance, future proof as you can move it.

I would get retail...

they both install same way otherwise.
