Hi

This is my first post in this forum, so sorry if I don't provide sufficient info from the start.

I recently purchased new Intel processor - i7 4790K for my ASUS Z87-Pro mobo. Previously I have been using i5 4570 for several years with no problems (idle temp: 30 C, don't remember loaded).

So, after finally updating BIOS to 1802 (both original and the newest version didn't detect the new CPU), I installed the processor and the CPU temperature went to >75 C in BIOS (idle). Windows 7 x64 generated BSOD while booting. BIOS freezed after several seconds.

I managed to:
- reduce core CPU and cache voltage from 1.28 V to 1.1 V,
- BLK decreased from 125 to 100
- CPU Core Ratio switched to Sync All Cores

EPU Saving mode and Extreme Tweaking were disabled by default.

After those steps the idle temperature dropped to 52-54 C. BIOS doesn't freeze any more, Windows boots normally but...

... Windows freezes when CPU load gets higher (over 30%-40%). When this happens, the CPU temperatures are below 73 C and I can only hard reset the system. So for now, I don't even see the point in running tests like Prime95, as this would probably just freeze the system.

I'd appreciate any help!
