Hello,

I'm having the following problem, I have a high end PC, that is doing spontaneous restarts without apparently any cause, I have run antivirus (windows one) and anti malware (malwarebytes anti-malware).

I don't think the problem is temperatures, I'm attaching log prior to restart for temperatures from Corsair Link and from ASUS GPU tweak 2.

I've checked the event viewer, but I can't find anything that brings to my attention (attaching that also).

the behavior is the following:

1- start pc and use it for a short while (usually this happens in the morning)
2- without any warning pc shutdown and try to restart itself
3- fails to restart itself, it just send the start signal but it turn off again in less than a second of being on.
4- tries to restart itself and enters in a loop of not being able to do it
5- I switch off the PSU switch and leave it off a few minutes
6- turn it on and starts normally, but only works on windows for about a minute then freezes and I have to restart it again.
7- starts fine and I'm able to work for a good while.

when having it on, on the afternoon I've been running some stress tests for GPU (fu mark) and playing heavy games (arma 3 on max settings and rust). but it doesnt switch off then.

Computer Specs:

GPU: GeForcer GTX 980 ti (matrix)
CPU: core i7 5930K at 3.5 GHZ
Memory: 16.00 GB Hyper X predator
Current resolution: 2560*1080, 144hz
gpu driver: 365.19
OS: windows 10 pro.
Motherboard: MSI X99 - SLI Plus
HD: Samsung EVO 850 SSD 500GB (2 of them running in raid 0)
PSU: Corsair AX 1200W 80plus platinum

I really don't know what could be causing this and I appreciate any help that you can give me to pinpoint the issue.

this is what I got after running the SFC / SCANNOW:

Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586]
(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>SFC /SCANNOW

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

C:\Windows\system32>

Hello again gasguirre

Can you please try the following?

> Create a new folder on the desktop: mount.
> Open the Windows 10 installation media and copy and paste the install.wim file to the folder you just created.
> Right-click the Start button and click Command Prompt (Administrator) from the context menu.
> In the command window, type the following commands and press Enter after each:
>>>> Dism /mount-wim /wimFile:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\install.wim /index:1 /MountDir:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\mount
>>>> Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
>>>> Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\mount\windows /LimitAccess
>>>> Dism /unmount-wim /Mountdir:%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\mount /discard
> After this, re-run the SFC /SCANNOW command and see if the issue is resolved.

Cheers!! :)

After the last shutdown the video never came back. Is now booting. But monitor shows no signal. I've tried different ports and everything. Even with the safe mode from the gpu. No video at all

yeah, I would like a way to rule out that the video card is the issue, in order to know to operate the warranty on it. the fans are starting, lights, everything, it loos like a normal boot, but the video never starts on monitor, it says "no source"

did you ever fix your image using dism?

the restart loop, does it try to load windows and then restart? You might be best of doing a fresh install if its just windows that won't load.

I'm sorry I didn't update on this.

the issue was the PSU, I got it changed by warranty and never had the issue again.
