So here's my issue.
I upgraded from 2 60hz to 2 144hz (Monitors: http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2411Z-Monitor-Supported-seamless/dp/B00ITORITU?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 )

When connected to my GTX960, my primary works great, 144hz, beautiful (DVI connected). This leaves me with 3 display ports and an hdmi port on the graphics card.

As the monitors do not support displayports, I went with a brand new hdmi cable from Amazon, just to be sure, was super cheap anyways, and I didn't feel like unplugging one from a TV set anyway.

Plugged it in, but the 2nd monitor is locked at 60hz, even when going into the Nvidia control panel and forcing to 144hz, the screen goes black, and it does not want to go over 60hz. I even had an HDMI > DVI cable I was using before on another setup, but that was locked to 60hz as well.

So, as my GPU doesn't have any other options, am I out of luck in getting both to 144hz?
Would a displayport to DVI work @ getting 144hz? like http://www.amazon.com/Accell-UltraAV-B087B-002B-DisplayPort-Dual-Link/dp/B002ISVI3U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1435597922&sr=8-2&keywords=bizlink+active+displayport+adaptor

Thanks

Tried 120hz as well, no dice.

Hello... the cable construction makes a difference... they may look all the same, but check the fine print on the insulation/jacket... or purchase a verifiable 1.4 as another Test... the shorter the better B )
Display port does not have 144Hz standard either... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort 1.4 cable could give you 120Hz.

You are currently running "Dual link DVI" is why you are getting 144Hz with it.

HDMI uses the same signalling as DVI, but only has one link, this generally limits it to 1920 x 1200 when used with an adapter. HDMI overcame this issue with a higher link speed(but not all monitors support it). I have got as far as 85hz out of HDMI on a BenQ 144hz screen.

DisplayPort adapters should work, but you have to ensure it supports dual link DVI not just single link. These are active adapters and cost more.
