Will this work? I'm planning on getting a GTX 1070, but the monitors I'm choosing don't have any DVI inputs, only VGA, HDMI & DP.

So will I be able to use 3 screens with 2 DP inputs and 1 HDMI?

Solution
Don't get your hopes too high regarding gaming on three monitors, it doesn't work like you think. It just stretches out the sides 99% of the time.

You're MUCH better gaming on an 1440p large monitor - now THAT is what you should be excited for.

If you're in the LA area i'd sell my 3x 21.5"s for $70 each in a heart beat, they just are too small.

Sure, more expensive though.

Just get a DVI to HDMI dongle (you'll probably get at least one with your 1070).
Then you can use cheaper and longer HDMI cables.

Thanks, why would it be more expensive?

Would that work? The 1070 has 3 display port outputs and the monitors I'm choosing have DP inputs, so if that;d work then I'll just buy 3 DP cables and do that.

idk, better to go with native ports than adapt them, what youre saying is fine, what screens are you using

I misread the assumptions, i thought you were going to be using an adapter to turn the DP into 3 DP or something.

You're not going to have any problems at all getting three monitors connected, just about any configuration you can manage will work fine.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to use 3 of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0158L13M4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE and I'll hook all of them up using display port conenctions.

Nice, should be slick. It has VESA mounts so you can put em on a tree later if you so wish.

You going to be doing some surround gaming or anything?

I really wish i had gone with bigger monitors on my eyefinity setup, but you may be perfectly satisfied with 22" I think 27" is a better size but then they just take up so much space.

27" is so much nicer, I used 21.5" and the difference from 21.5 to 27 is unbelieveable. It's so much nicer for doing things like watching movies etc. and using TomsHardware, so much more space. I got my 27" screens for £130 each, Samsung S27C650D

Yeah, though I'm not sure how Nvidia Surround works with Windows 10, I've heard it had problems. But I can't wait to play the Batman Arkham games on 3 screens.

I've never had a large monitor, I've always stuck with 22" monitors, but if there isn't a huge price gap I may look at slightly larger ones, if my desk will fit them.

I really like the immersion you get with multiple monitors. But I'm mainly using it for multitasking.

with the new 1070 and 1080 they've got a new multipoint render technology so that surround isnt stretched out as much. Currently, im playing on three 27" monitors with 980Ti and it's basically 2 monitors, stretched out to 3, but it is just lovely

I can't wait to try the new card. My current one is a little outdated.
