When will the GTX 1070 Price drop? i was expecting 330£ for a aftermarket 1070 but NO! now im looking at websites and the price is 530£, wasnt GTX 1070 going to replace the 970? this is confusing......gonna wait and see what AMD has to offer. Hopefully the 1070 will drop atleast 80£ when RX480 releases, nvidia needs competition.

In mainland Europe (I'm in France) it is 500€ for the reference card and 530€ to 550€ for a partner card. The GTX 1080 prices are pretty scarey as well!

These were the sorts of prices I expected, as the US $ prices are never what we end up paying in Europe (allowing for the exchange rate).

Best news is that 980 Ti cards are now as low as 493.49€ (new) here.

the 980ti havent dropped in price and are still 510£ in Sweden. yes 1080 prices are crazy but everyone cant afford it. do you think that the 980 or 980 ti will get cheaper than 1070? it would be good if it did.

In France at least, that is already happening to the GTX 980. If you aren't bothered about a 10XX card then the future is positive.

I don't know how far the 980 will drop but for example, a new GTX 980 sold directly from www.amazon.fr for little as 419.90€ - that's for an MSI Gaming 4G.

https://www.amazon.fr/MSI-GTX-980-4G-graphique/dp/B00NOP53AA/277-2044836-9273416?ie=UTF8&creative=22686&creativeASIN=B00NOP53AA&hvdev=c&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=&linkCode=df0&ref_=asc_df_B00NOP53AA34494965&tag=googshopfr-21

GTX 970, new, for 259.90€

Given that the 1070 outperforms the 980 and 980 Ti eventually the prices of the inferior cards will have to drop to below the 1070 or they won't sell.

But the point is it will take some time for this to happen. There will be plenty of outlets trying to sell off their 9XX stock for as much as possible for as long as possible. Eventually the consumer will benefit as people shun the 9XX for a 1070 or 1080 and the prices of 9XX will fall.

I've been watching prices of 970's and 980's for the last few weeks and the trend in France/Germany is that they are certainly starting to go down.

When the availability of partner 1070's becomes widespread in Europe then the prices will drop further. It's just a case of waiting for those market forces to take effect.

Another factor is the performance and price in Europe of the Radeon RX 480. If it is close to the 1070 and as cheap as the rumours suggest, this will effect not only the price of the 1070 but also the 9XX cards. Then there is the impact of used/second hand 9XX cards on the market. It will only be good for the consumer.

But it always takes time for the prices to adjust. Patience is the key here. Everything comes to he who waits!

Wait a couple of weeks.
The prices will settle towards the end of the month or first half of July at most. You will have the cards for about 400 euros.
Prices are high now due to limited availability. As production ramps up and AMD releases RX480, GTX 1070 prices will fall to their normal values.

where do you live? the gtx 1070 is much much cheaper in the US compared to Europe countries. several benchmarks is showing that the RX480 offers similar performance as gtx 980 or 390X for 200$ but they are maybe fake. well i will wait until 29 june and see what the 480 offers.

I live in Israel. Our computer HW prices usually 20-30% over US prices without state/city tax. But there is much smaller choice when it comes to enthusiast grade parts. For example watercooling parts for custom loops are not available. I had to order everything on internet. I believe RX480 will be on GTX970 level. And I doubt it will deliver 1080p@60fps minimum on high settings in every game. Even 1070 barely does that.

I'm from Belgium, I came across this topic when I looked for it. I've read all the posts, so it's actually normal that the prices are higher then most of us expected huh? I see.

So we'll have to wait a couple of weeks? I don't mind the waiting at all actually. I know that it's mostly even wise to wait for a couple of weeks, maybe a month or 2 so that they start selling alot. Once you know this, you're guaranteed the card is working fine and isn't missing parts or something. I assume it's quiet typical, I came across posts of the 1080 and 1070 already with missing parts or parts not working...

keep in mind the prices here n the US. for a 1070 that is $449 for founders edition and custom cards starting at $380 if i recall right. so if prices are normally higher in your country, then i would expect $500+USD for the card in europe. those prices sound right considering the mark-up in europe i have seen.

we have sellers here selling FE cards for over $1000 since they are hard to come by right now. and i'm sure some moron is buying it at that price rather than waiting for them to be better stocked. sick back and wait. custom cards will be cheaper, better and worth the wait.

Also, unlike rest of the world, US prices do not include taxes (6-12) :)
And i have not seen EVGA card for less than 420$ :(

i don't know what msi card you are asking about. they have 7 1070 models so far. one is a FE card and the 2 armor models are similar to the FE.

have a look here for a list of all the models http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-3047729/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1000-series-megathread-faq-resources.html#17902598 and have a look. the FE card is clearly marked as such and all models have links to product pages and reviews if they exists yet.

I was refering to the msi 1070 gaming x. I heard somewhere in another topic that these were announced products, and that they weren't shipped yet. Right now in europe, this card is about €579, which is like €50 more then the founders edition. This doesn't make any sence. First of all they say that the founders edition will be more expensive then the aftermarket products, and now I see the opposite. Maybe it's the local site here, so the prices may vary...

Anyway, so these cards, which aren't shipped yet, are already the aftermarket cards that we can order then?

they are the aftermarket cards that have been announced. some are available and some are not out yet. the FE cards are supposed to be more expensive but once you leave the US all bets are off. prices can go anywhere as they usually do outside the US.

the gaming x should be available but may not be in stock yet where you are at. the 1070 cards are very slow to market right now with many more 1080 cards available. all you can really do is wait until you find that card or see if others cards are out and good enough. so few reviews for them, it is hard to say what will perform compared to FE cards. might be best to sit tight for now and let it all work out some more.

I don't even know if I wanna wait. I hope these prices will drop cause I don't know why the hell they brought the 1070 out... It supposed to be cheap, but actually they are as much unaffordable as a 1080...

Problem is, I have a 770, these are already a bit outdated. The 900 series would be good but for how long? Sooner or later, those cards will be outdated as well, and by outdated I mean that you can't play some games on ultra anymore. The 1000 series are now the cards which will live the longest, but those are just too expensive now...

the new amd rx 480 coming out on the 29th may be worth waiting for. looks to be about as strong as a gtx 980 which is good enough for 1440p for now. plus that card will start at $200, though superclocked ones should get to about $300. might not be a bad compromise for now until you can get the 1070/80 easier and perhaps slightly cheaper depending on what amd does after these cards. it's a thought anyway.

I guess I'm used to msi nvidia, so I'll stick with that. Interestingly, the 1070 slightly beats the 980ti. I wonder what the durability of those are? Could a 980ti live as long as a 1070 in terms of ultra-gaming?

Math Geek

Titan

probably not as long. the extra 2 gb of vram will give the 1070 an edge down the road. but the 980ti will still be a solid card for a couple years if you can handle dropping the settings here and here.

I see, well I wouldn't go for it anyway, it's almost as expensive as a 1070 so. Best thing to do is indeed wait and see how things pan out. Thanks for the info.

Bad news, the 1070 wont drop in price when the 480 is released because why would Nvidia drop their price? the 480 cant even ccompete wih the 1070 so i think we will have to wait some months for Vega which will probably be able to compete with the 1070 so the price can drop.

Well ... Both 480 and 1070 are competing for 1080p gaming.
480 will do great 1080p gaming -> mostly over 60fps
1070 will do a slightly better 1080p gaming -> mostly (more than 480) over 60 fps.
Now, ask yourself. Are you ready to pay 200-250USD to get 85 fps instead of 70 in some game ?
So if you are a logical person, your answer is "no". There are might be other reasons to pick 1070 over 480, but as for 1080p gaming there are very few.
also 1070 not capable of 1440p gaming on highest settings over 60fos in every game.
So people will buy RX480. And nvidia will have to lower prices to 320-350$ for 1070 to be somewhat attractive and keep the sales level of this card.
