Hi I want to know any suggestions for a good monitor suitable for 1440p gaming . I'm also pretty sure my rig could handle the higher resolution as I have a GTX 970 , i5-6600k and 16Gb RAM . Any help is greatly appreciated :p

Acer XB270HU
PROS:
1> 1440p
2> IPS Panel (best color quality)
3> sub 4ms response time
4> G-SYNC (keeps the image quality and prevents screen tearing)
5> 27 inch (smallest 1440p monitor size opts for most pixels per square inch, making better image quality)

CONS:
1> Price tag (ranges from $650-$750)
2> Not that visually pleasing/physical appearance (If you want a more visually pleasing version of the monitor go with the Acer XB271HU, same specs but looks better)
3> No built in speakers (need to purchase speakers or headset separately)

I use the Acer XB270HU myself, with my specs (listed on bottom) I can run GTA V, Fallout 4, and CSGO at Very High-MAXED OUT with 60+ fps.
This monitor is great for CSGO (low response time, a lot more pixels), video/picture editing (IPS Panel + 1440p = amazing quality) and just general use.

Definitely get the Acer XB270HU or Acer XB271HU
